Texts are an important source of language data, not least because they often consist of traditional stories, folktales or oral history. Such stories are instrumental in retaining language and culture.
Eleme folktales are particularly entertaining as they usually include a song with which the listener joins in. Stories are usually told in the evening to entertain adults and children alike.

Most of the traditional folktales recorded in Eleme were told with large audiences participating in the storytelling. Each story is accompanied by the name and photo of the storyteller.
